St Kitts, also known as St Christopher, is small enough to feel safe, yet there's enough to do to have a nice variety of choices; tourism is moderately developed  but not overly so, which is a BIG plus for me. There's still more lush greenery and countryside than concrete so the island hasn't lost its Caribbean feel.

St. Kitts is relatively unspoiled with lots of beautiful Caribbean and Atlantic beaches and lush rain forests along with the normal tourist areas such as a historic sites and hillsides with incredible views.  I lucked out and got a fantastic, personalized  360 tour of the entire island with St Kitts Captain Sunshine Tours and the owner/guide, Smiling Kenny!  If you're heading to St. Kitts, I highly recommend this tour service because unlike the typical buses, Captain Sunshine uses a four-wheel drive vehicle that will take you to the tops of mountains where the buses won't dare to tread.

For lodging, I chose the St Kitts Marriott Beach and Resort . Recently renovated, the Marriott is gorgeous. The staff were very accomodating and the ocean view room was breathtaking with spa-like design. The bath in my suite was decidely european -- and one of the best I've had at a hotel any place (see pictures). The Marriott is located on the Atlantic ocean with the Caribbean being a short walk away.  While the Atlantic is beautiful, the waters are a bit choppier than the Caribbean. The Marriott's food was very good and the onsite spa is wonderful. It was here that I was first introduced to the delicious MeBath! products.

You can take the ferry to Nevis for a day on the beach, or a stay at a local hotel including the posh Four Seasons Nevis.

Another option is to take a short flight hop or 2 hour ferry to St Maarten for GREAT shopping!!!

Taxi’s on St. Kitts can be expensive; I recommend that you exchange rate for your money with that on the island you are visiting. While some locals will discourage you from exchanging, I highly recommend that you have USD as well as local currency such as ECE on hand as well – better to bargain with and you sometimes don’t receive the correct exchange rate when you pay in USD but get ECE change.

ALWAYS notify the hotel if you are traveling alone and planning a voyage into town; See an official ID of the person with whom you are going away (even on tours) and give it to the hotel front desk or concierge; let them know the time you plan to return
